ASSEMBLY REPORT ON AIR FORCE DAY
“The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country”
To mark the occasion of ‘ Air Force Day’, students of class V-A presented the morning assembly on 8th October 2015. The assembly commenced with the morning prayer followed by the thought for the day.
“War is not only a matter of equipment, artillery, group troops or air force; it is largely a matter of spirit, or morale.”
A group of students threw some light on the significance of this day – It was officially established on 8 October 1932 as an auxiliary unit of RAF. The Indian Air Force, air arm of the Indian armed forces, has the prime responsibility of securing the Indian airspace as well as to carry out the aerial warfare during any clash.
Students enlightened the audience that The Motto of the Indian Air Force “Touch the Sky with Glory” has been taken from Bhagvad Gita. The Indian Air Force, aims to overwhelm its adversaries with its sophisticated air power.
The students highlighted that The Indian Air Force has not only conquered the skies, but also our hearts. They paid a tribute to them by sharing some amazing IAF facts that will make our chest swell with pride.
Students also drew our attention towards the important rescue operation carried out by the Indian Air Force.They evacuated civilians affected by the floods in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh in 2013 and this year too Indian nationals from Nepal were evacuated during the massive earthquake that hit Nepal .
Students also spoke about the first woman Air Marshal of the Indian Air Force Padmavathy Bandopadhyay. She has the distinction of being the first woman officer to become an aviation medicine specialist.
The students recited a poem in Hindi in praise of Indian Air Force Day
The assembly concluded with the National Anthem .
