Be educated, be organised and be agitated.
On 13th April’17, the students of class IV A presented a thought provoking assembly on ‘Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’. The assembly began with themorning prayer and the news headlines followed by the thought for the day –
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today”.
The anchors informed the gathering about Dr. B.R.Ambedkar, who utilized his education to bring about social change.They elaborated on his fundamental role in creating the Constitution of India.
Facts related to Baba Saheb’s life were shared with the audience, like, ‘He started weekly publications called ‘Mooknayak’ and ‘Equality Janta’.He was an economist, lawyer, politician and a social reformer.He got double doctorate from Columbia University and London school of economics.He was the first Law Minister of independent India.In 1956 he converted to Buddhism. His autobiography is called ‘Waiting for a Visa’.
He introduced the system of reservation of jobs for backward classes. The Reserve Bank of India was based on his ideas. He was awarded the ‘Bharat Ratna’ in 1990.’
The audience were told many inspiring words spoken by Dr. Ambedkar. For example ,
- I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which its women have achieved.
- They cannot make history who forget history.
- Life should be great rather than long.
- Cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence.
The participants also recited a poem ‘Hamare Baba saheb’, which was highly appreciated .
Primary In charge Ms S.Dhingra talked to the students and further elaborated on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.
