ASSEMBLY REPORT ON EARTH DAY
The students of class II- C conducted a morning assembly on 25-4-16. The theme of the assembly was ‘Earth Day’. The assembly started with the morning prayer followed by the news updates and the thought of the day “let’s make our earth a green playground and not a dumping ground.”
Children made the audience aware that Earth Day is celebrated on 22nd April every year. The founder of Earth Day was Senator Gaylord Nelson and the first Earth Day was celebrated on 22nd April 1970. The day reminds each one of us that we have to protect and save our mother earth.
The children took a pledge that they will switch off the fans and lights when they leave their class. They will not waste paper in order to save trees. They will plant a tree on special occasions like their birthday.
The children sang a beautiful and meaningful song- “The earth is my home”.
Children informed the audience that Earth Day is celebrated in other countries of the world such as China, U.S.A, Kenya, Australia etc. Some of the initiatives taken by these countries on Earth Day are as follows.
- USA organizes games, workshops and does beach clean ups.
- Kenya encourages planting of trees on this day.
