Report of Class assembly
Class II – B
The students of Class II B conducted an assembly on the topic “Halloween” on 26th October, 2015. The assembly started with the morning prayer, followed by the news headlines and the thought of the day, “When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam, May luck be yours on Halloween”.
\Halloween is a popular international festival which is celebrated in many countries like Ireland, Scotland, U.S.A. and U.K. on31st October. The students of class II –B started the assembly in a “fun way” by asking the audience to choose between “Trick or Treat”. They explained that for the Celts this day marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winters. They also believed that on this day the ghosts of the dead return to earth, so people light bonfires and disguise themselves in costumes and masks to ward off the roaming ghosts. People carve faces on the pumpkins and put a light inside them and make lanterns out of them.
The students also explained that “Trick or Treat” is an important part of this festival. Children go door to door to ask for candies between 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm. People decorate entrance of their houses with artificial spider webs, plastic skeletons and lanterns. The students sang a song on “Halloween”.
“Halloween,Halloween, Spooky, Kooky Halloween”.Trick or treating all in fun October 31st has come.”
The students carried many colourful banners which added meaning to the theme of the assembly. In the end the students performed Zumba fitness workout. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.
