Academic Session 2015-2016
Assembly report on Hand Washing Day. (Tagore House)
Wash, wash, wash your hands,
Scrub the germs away.
If you don’t, they will stay,
And cling to you for the rest of the day.
On 9th of October, 2015, students of Tagore House conducted the morning assembly to commemorate “Global Hand washing Day.” This day is an annual global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of hand washing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives. The assembly started with the Morning Prayer followed by the thought for the day.
Students of Tagore house made the audience understand as to why we should wash our hands especially before our meals. We all touch walls, car handles, desks, books etc all the time. These items have come in contact with other people, whose hands might not be so clean. Therefore, they are carriers of all kinds of germs. Consequently these germs get transferred to our hands and in turn contaminate our food. So it becomes very important that we wash our hands before our meals. Students were made aware of the importance of washing hands often, especially before and after we eat our food.
Don’t be dirty, be neat
Wash your hands before you eat.
Children were then taught the right way of washing their hands following the eight steps. Children practised these eight steps by going through the motions of washing their hands in the right way.
The highlight of the assembly was the jingle ‘ Haath saaf karenge’ initiated for the children of India. The assembly concluded on a note of positivity with all the children being certain that they will always wash their hands before and after their meals.
