Topic: International Literacy Day
Class III-A conducted an assembly on 8th September 2016. The topic of the assembly was the International Literacy Day. The assembly commenced with the Morning Prayer followed by the news headlines and the thought of the day.
‘Literacy is the bridge between Misery and Hope’
The students of class III-A made the audience aware that International Literacy Day is celebrated on 8th September every year. UNESCO organizes various programmes to make people conscious of the importance of literacy in our life.
The audience was also made aware that literacy is a human right and it helps in improving health, sanitation, agriculture and raises the standards of living of the society. It empowers people so that they can make the right choices and decisions. They also elaborated the steps taken by the Indian government to increase the literacyrate our country Education has been made free till class 8th, Mid day meals are provided in the schools. Students carried placards with slogans like ‘BetiBachao, BetiPadao’, sabhikosaksharkarneka mission’ to showcase the initiatives taken by the Indian Government and UNESCO to improve the literacy rate in India as well as globally. They sang a song through which they highlighted the importance of literacy. Students asked questions related to the assembly from the audience. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.
