Creating Clean Air Champions
Summer Fields School has taken an initiative for creating Clean Air Champions amongst the school children of Delhi and NCR in association with Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) and Forum for Air Quality (FAQ). WHO has ranked Delhi as one of the most polluted cities hence the need to conduct the awareness program so as to disseminate the information to the masses and finding/promoting possible solutions to combat the increasing levels of the pollution.
In the first two rounds, our students attended the workshops on concepts and created AV films and participated in quiz / group discussions.
Round 3 consists of the inter-school competition wherein the schools have to take various initiatives to raise the awareness levels among the citizens of Delhi about air pollution. Our students carried out multiple activities including organizing a rally from adopted park (Mahavir Temple) to GK-1 M-Block market using placards, banners, posters. We also distributed 400 brochures containing information about methods to control air pollution. A play was also enacted at the temple premises for the devotees and park visitors.
A questionnaire was also prepared and the students got it filled up by their school mates, friends, neighbours, teachers and family members. This survey helped in checking the awareness level of the people.
We are also sending a letter to our honorable Prime Minister of India Sh. NarendraModi highlighting the harmful effects of the extreme pollution levels in Delhi and requesting him to take strict action in order to improve the air quality of Delhi.
