REPORT OF ASSEMBLY ON MALALA DAY
On 21st July’16, the students of class IV D presented a thought provoking assembly on ‘Malala’. The assembly began with the Morning Prayer, followed by the ‘thought for the day’ and the news headlines.
They elaborated that she was shot by the Taliban because she defied the Taliban. Taliban had banned the girls from attending school. Despite the ban, she went to school and also wrote a blog for BBC, detailing about the struggles faced by her in attaining education and life under Taliban. They saluted her spirit that even after being so near death, she continued with her mission. She is an ardent supporter of right to education especially for girls. They quoted her words that “I decided to speak up and die rather than not speak at all”. The audience also heard a recording of an excerpt of the speech given by Malala at the U. N. Headquarters.
Facts related to Malala’s life were shared with the audience, like she opened the ‘Malala Yousefzai All Girls School’ near the Syrian border, she co-authored a book called ‘I am Malala’. She told the world leaders to ‘invest in books and not in bullets’, she contributed her $1.1 million Nobel Prize money to finance the creation of a secondary school for girls in Pakistan.
The participants also recited a soulful poem ‘I am Malala’.
Primary Incharge Ms S. Dhingra talked to the students and motivated them to be courageous like Malala.
