On 28thJuly, the students of Radhakrishnan House had the opportunity to present an assembly on International Friendship Day. The assembly commenced with a prayerfollowed by the news headlines and thought of the day.
‘A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words’. Anonymous
The students enlightened the audience with the importance of International Friendship Day.They made their fellow friends aware of the fact that International Friendship Day is a day for celebrating friendship. On 27 April 2011, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared 30th July as official International Friendship Day. However, some countries, including India, celebrate Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. This year friendship day will be celebrated in India on 6th August. The International Day of Friendship is a day set aside to promote friendship among people, cultures and countries by the UN. The students enacted a skit where the value of friendship was taught. Indirectly they taught the values every child must imbibe.
