INDO-GERMAN CLASSOOM (2015-16)
The project “Indo-German classroom” is supervised and funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Goethe-Institut New Delhi/ Max Mueller Bhavan in common.In the second consecutive innings of 'Indo- German Classroom', students' exchange programme(2015-16),Summer fields School Kailash Colony, New Delhi, and the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Gymnasium, Chemnitz are working together on the project “Solar energy – to secure our future”. This year, ten students from standard IX accompanied by two teachers, Mrs. Sunita Chaudhary and Mrs. Jahanvi Mishra visited Chemnitz, Germany from 1st October to 11th October, 2015. |

The students and the teachers attended classes in the school to get a feel of the education system there. Furthermore, the students did a project work with their partners on intercultural communication problems.The group visited 'Solar World', in Freiberg, where they were shown the production of solar modules. They also visited themine 'ReicheZeche' where they got to wear some fancy orange or yellow overalls and gum boots. They also got a chance to visit the students' laboratory at the University of Chemnitz to experiment with fuel cells, and also view a fuel cell car. |

The students constructed solar cars along with their partners at Solaris, in two categories- Fast and Creative. Six groups opted to make fast cars whereas the four groups decided to display their creativity by making the Taj Mahal and Delhi Metro on wheels, a Jet plane and a Unicorn car. | |
The group got a chance to visit the 'Saxonian Parliament', the "Landtag", where they had an interesting interaction about renewable energy with VolkmarZschocke and Dr.GerdLippoid from the Green Party.The group was also taken to Berlin for sightseeing to Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral, Reichstag building, Berlin wall, boat ride on Spree river etc. on Saturday, October 3rd which was a national holiday in Germany, celebrating the reunion of West and East Germany. Dresden Cathedral and Women's Church in Dresden mesmerised the group completely. At Dresden, they also visited Fraunhofer Institute where they got to know a lot about thin films. | |
They were also taken to watch two movies 'Social Suicide' and 'The Gilly Hopkins' which were a part of the 20th Chemnitz International Film Festival.All in all participation in this project provided a unique way of intercultural learning.The return visit of the German counterparts is scheduled for later this month. Indo German Classroom Exchange
Summer Fields School, Kailash Colony,New Delhi is conducting an Indian-German school cooperation project together with Karl Schmidt Rottluff Gymnasium, Chemnitz, Germany from April 2014 to November 2015 under the programme “German-Indian Classroom” devised by Robert Bosch Stiftung (Robert Bosch Foundation) and Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi.
Within the framework of this programme ten students and two teachers of our school visited their German partners in October,2014. We visited Chemnitz,Dresden and Lichtenstein. We attended classes at the Karl Schmidt Rottluff Gymnasium, learning about the school system in Germany. We visited Zwinger palace, the Frauenkirche, the Elbe river landscape and the Parliament of Saxony, in Dresden. In Lichtenstein we saw amazing craftsmanship from the world over at the DAETZ centre. Visits to the City Centre and the theatre in Chemnitz and the Augustusburg Castle in the Erzgebirge were memorable. Interactions with traditional and modern aspects of the City, including the University Day at Technical University,Chemnitz were enriching experiences.
As part of the Project reciprocal visit, a group of seven students and two teachers from Chemnitz, Germany visited Summer Fields School from November 9-21, 2014. To showcase the rich cultural heritage of India, the itinerary of the group includes a trip to the TajMahal, Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort, Raj Ghat, QutubMinar, Lotus Temple and the Crafts Museum.
The students and teachers attended regular classes in the school to experience the school system here.The exchange allowed students to interact with and learn from people who are different yet similar to them and to participate in new,unique experiences beyond their own communities and cultures.Handcrafted by Tech Team.
