Class X E conducted its assembly on the topic Empathy on Wednesday, 7th August, 2019 in the Skating Rink of the school.
The comperes began the assembly by iterating thatEmpathy is the ability to share someone else’s feelings or experiences by imagining what it would be like to be in that person’s situation and being able to practice empathy is one of the most important skills one can learn.
A student recited the poem ‘Sympathy’ by Charles Mackay setting the mood for the Assembly. The melodious singers of the Class presented the song ‘Jyot se JyotJalateChalo, Premki Ganga BahateChalo, very apt to the topic of the assembly allotted to them.
The highlight of the Assembly was the skit presented by the students of the class conveying the wonderful message not to waste a single morsel of food and show empathy towards those who are so unfortunate that they have to sleep hungry.
Principal Dr NeeruSuman appreciated the efforts made by the students and iterated that in a world that spends so much time picking at flaws and igniting fear and anger in people, empathy can be a balm to that fear and anger. Empathy can help not only you but also others to lead a more fulfilling and healthier life.
“Learning to stand in somebody’s shoes, to see through their eyes, that’s how peace begins.
And it’s up to you to make that happen.” ~ Barack Obama
