VIVEKANANDA HOUSE ASSEMBLY
The students of Vivekananda House heldan assembly on ‘Gurupurab’ on 1stNovember 2019.
The assembly began with the morning prayer followed by the news headlines and the thought for the day-
“Before becoming a Hindu, a Muslim, a Sikh or a Christian, let’s become a Human first”
The students came dressed in traditional Sikh attire and shared useful information relating to the life and teaching of Guru Nanak Devji.
They told the audience that Guru Nanak was the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. His birth is celebrated worldwide as Gurpurab on Kartik Pooranmashi, the full-moon day in the month of Kartik.
Guru Nanak Dev ji travelled far and wide teaching people the message of one God who dwells in every one of his creations and constitutes the eternal Truth.He set up a unique spiritual, social, and political platform based on equality, fraternal love, goodness, and virtue.
Guru Nanak’s words are registered in the form of 974 poetic hymns in the holy text of Sikhism, the Guru Granth Sahib, with some of the major prayers being the Japji Sahib ,and the Asa di Var and the Sidh-Gosht.
Through a short skit, the students enlightened the audience about the teachings of Guru Nanak Devji.
The Primary In charge Ms. S. Dhingra interacted with the students and shared her thoughts about the festival and teachings of Guru Nanak Devji.She told the audience that even though Guru Nanak Ji was born so many years ago but his teachings are universal and are so relevant in today’s world.
The assembly was concluded by the National Anthem.
