“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”
It has been rightly said ,“Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending.” To highlight the inherent truth in these profound words, Summer Fields School hosted Farewell- 2023 on the 29th of December to bid farewell to the batch of Class XII with a fine amalgam of emotions, nostalgia , fervour and zest .
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by our esteemed Principal Ms Shalini Agarwal, Vice Principal Ms Shweta Oberoi, academic coordinators and class representatives amidst the chanting of the heavenly shlokas. This feast for the soul was followed by a special address by the Principal to felicitate and bless the outgoing batch. Ma’am motivated the students to unstintingly follow their passion and achieve their dreams, her inspirational words encapsulated the profundity captured by Rainer Maria Rilke when he asserted “Destiny itself is like a wonderful wide tapestry in which every thread is guided by an unspeakable tender hand, placed beside another thread and held and carried by a hundred others.”
How right was Constanze Mozart when he proclaimed that- “Dancing is like dreaming with your feet.” Bearing this in mind students of Class XI put up a scintillating program of dazzling dances and mesmerizing music in honour of their seniors where students of all the three streams performed par excellence on foot tapping contemporary songs as well as evergreen songs of yesteryears .
Students of Class XII enthralled the audience with a symphony of melodies accentuating what Victor Hugo meant when he asserted, ‘Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent .’ The exquisite melodies permeated the atmosphere and left everyone in a lyrical trance.
Mr and Ms SFS was given a little twist this year when all the students of Class XII stepped on the stage with elegance and elan to walk the ramp. The style and grace of the girls in their grand sari’s and exuberance exuded by the boys in their tuxedos was indeed a sight to behold. The contestants shortlisted by the esteemed panel of judges entered the Question Answer round where one witnessed the confluence of beauty and brains embellished with confidence and presence of mind. The coveted Mr SFS and Ms SFS titles went to Ralph Sadh and Paridhi Gupta and the Mr and Ms Runner up titles were bagged by Tejansh Singh Bhandari and Raj Kumari Rishi. Myriad other titles were bestowed on the students to make it a truly memorable experience for them all.
The programme culminated with a special ceremony – the Shower of blessings where the Principal, Vice Principal and all the teachers showered their blessings on the outgoing batch by showering rose petals on the students. This remarkable ceremony left the ambience filled with the fragrance of flowers, warmth of caring hearts and sweet smiles of students.
After the vote of thanks the food counters were opened which offered an array of scrumptious snacks and delectable dishes that were relished by one and all with the DJ playing their favourite songs and enlivening the whole scenario.
It has been rightly said ‘Education is not the filling of a vessel but the lighting of a fire.’ This day of mixed emotions made students realise that the years of school life are indeed unparalleled but now as they stand at the threshold of a new dawn they must learn to navigate the world that eagerly awaits, spread their wings, explore new vistas and embrace new opportunities.
