Indian Military Heritage Festival

Across both days, we discussed India’s contributions to the World Wars, lesser-known campaigns, and the sacrifices of soldiers whose stories often remain forgotten. We also engaged deeply with themes like evolving warfare, maritime strategy, defence reforms, and the changing geopolitical landscape around India. Many sessions focused on leadership—through biographies of great military commanders—and what we can learn from their decisions and character.

We also explored conflict zones such as Afghanistan and the Northeast, examined border management, and reflected on the role of security forces like the BSF. Conservation of battlefield heritage and how historical memory shapes national identity were also important takeaways for me. Overall, the event helped us appreciate how India’s strategic thinking is evolving. It reinforced the idea that understanding our military history is essential for facing modern threats and shaping future policies.
