STEAM Expo 2024

The best way to predict the future is to invent it” –Alan Kay

STEAM education foster critical thinking and creativity in learners. It’s an interdisciplinary approach to education that encourages students to think critically, solve problems, and innovate through hands-on learning experiences. By integrating these different disciplines, STEAM education aims to prepare students for the rapidly evolving demands of the modern world.

On the above lines, Summer Fields School in collaboration with NASCA organised a STEAM Expo 2024, which took place on Thursday, 26th December 2024 and 18th January 2025. It embraced the theme ‘Ignite, Innovate, Inspire’ and was a resounding success, showcasing the innovative and creative projects of our students from Grade 6th to 9th. The event was a culmination of weeks of hard work and dedication, as students worked tirelessly to design, build, and showcase their projects in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

The exhibition featured an impressive array of projects, including:

  1. Hey Sing Robot: A robotic system that waves its hand in response to human presence.
  2. Newton Disk: A visual demonstration of Newton’s color theory, showcasing the composition of white light.
  3. Quiz Board: An interactive quiz system that provides instant feedback through a color-coded display.
  4. Sensing Eyes: A robotic system equipped with sound-tracking sensors that mimic human eye movement.
  5. RFID Home Automation: A secure and automated home system controlled by RFID cards.
  6. Avoiding Robot: A robotic navigation system designed to avoid obstacles and prevent falls.
  7. Find My Location Application: A location-based application that utilizes image recognition for navigation.
  8. Pick and Place Robot: A robotic arm designed for precise object manipulation and placement.
  9. Object Detection using ESP32 Cam Module: A computer vision system capable of detecting and identifying objects in real-time.
  10. Sound Controlled Bot: A robotic vehicle controlled by sound commands, simulating a car game environment.
  11. Colour Sorter: An automated sorting system that categorizes objects by color.
  12. Attendance System: A camera-based attendance tracking system for efficient student monitoring.
  13. Sign Language Recognition System: A translation system that converts sign language into text display.
  14. 3D Model: A collection of intricate 3D models crafted using advanced printing technology.

The STEAM exhibition was a huge success, showcasing the talents and creativity of our students. The event provided a platform for students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in STEAM subjects, and we are proud of their achievements. We would like to thank the students, teachers, and parents for their hard work and support in making this event a success.
